The North Texas DEC held its “Taste of France” event on January 31 at AT Bistro in Dallas. Attendees were able to combine business and fun at this special gathering.
Mr. Frantz Eyssallenne, International Trade Specialist and Deputy Europe and Aerospace & Defense Global Team Leader from the US Commercial Service DFW office, started the event with important aspects that US companies should know as they prepare to do business in France. As one of the oldest and closest commercial and economic alliances, many were surprised to learn that the first trade agreement for the US, the Treaty of Amity and Commerce, was signed with France in 1778. Fast forward to today, and the US and France conduct on average $350 million in commercial transactions every day. After Mr. Eyssallenne’s presentation, guests were treated to a wine tasting by Mr. Franck Texier-Travers, a fifth-generation winery owner in Bordeaux, France. His company, Chateau Belloy, creates a variety of wines. In addition to learning about the wine making process and his wines, he provided interesting historical facts about his area, including stories of Charlemagne’s hidden treasure.
